This one of my lovelies from the "Fab 5". Thursday we went on a Target adventure and I racked up on bunch of makeup of different brands because I wanted to familiarize myself different products other than MAC. So after we left Target, we headed back to my house and I thought of this fun idea for us to do a mini shoot of her with makeup on. Mae doesn't wear makeup like that, so being to apply makeup on her was SUPER FUN. After I finished, we decided to take pics and I told her that I would edit them from my phone and truth be told, they turned out pretty HOT! A little bit more about Mae, she's not only one of my bffs, but she's like a sister and I am so very proud of her. She is about to graduate from college in May of next year and she will be moving on to bigger and better things next year! Get familiar with this face because this won't be the last time you see her!

Every now and then I write a post about Angela & Vanessa Simmons about their style. This time I wanted to write about how much they really inspire me to keep pushing towards my dream. I found this brief video of Angela & Vanessa talking about Pastry. We seriously need more ladies out here being better role models for the younger girls. I love the fact they always carry themselves with class and that they give back. Rev Run did an outstanding job with raising them and teaching them to be ladies. I have yet to meet Angela & Vanessa Simmons but I'm sure it's coming. I look up to them because they NEVER STOP achieving their dreams, they NEVER let anyone tell them what they can or cannot do. Watching this video reassures me that I am going to make it big and live up to my dreams! Thank you Angela & Vanessa for being a major inspiration in my life!

For my readers who know me personally, you know that I am changing and enhancing my look. I love to try new things and keep it fresh. Never expect me to keep one particular look! Anywho, I cut my back in July because I wanted something spicy and refreshing. Plus having short hair is easier maintenance for me and I loved the fact that I could just get up and go. Boy was I wrong about short hair! There were times when I really would just get up and go but then throughout the day, I found myself looking at my hair and saying to myself, "I should've flat ironed that spot." I really hated having bad hair days! So one day, I decided to try on a wig just for the heck of it. At first I was skeptical because I never tried on one before, and I didn't want it to look "obvious" that it was a wig. So I ended up trying on a few and I fell IN LOVE! The one you see in the picture above, I purchased it yesterday and I really love it because the hair is very flowy and angelic. I've purchased other wigs that screamed Diana Ross or Chaka Khan and they are more of my personality because of the big and loose curls. Ladies, please do not be afraid to try new things. It's perfectly normal to step outside of your comfort zone!

My heart is definitely craving YSL, to me they describe the modern working woman who embraces fashion and style. I'm definitely a sling-back type of girl, because my calves are kind of big, I need a shoe that asenuate my legs. *Fashion tip: A nice knee length or pencil skirt would really show off the shoe along with your figure.* As I progress in the fashion industry, a pair of YSL heels are mandatory for my fashion closet.

Knee-boot craves are at an all time high. I mean seriously, no one has an excuse as to why their boot game is not on point this season. I realize that we all may not be able to afford the more luxurious brands. However, Target, Nordstroms, Aldo, Steve Madden and other brands have a variety of knee and ankle boots at affordable prices. Wow! It has really been a while since I posted some new items. I have been extremely busy lately with running my PR firm. I have tons of wonderful new things that are happening for me and I am so very happy about it all. Most of you may know about KeyFAB Public Relations Firm already. Well recently I was offered a cool opportunity to work with Poprah. Most of you may know her from VH1 'I want to work for Diddy' season one. Poprah is really doing her thing in the beauty industry, she just launched her cosmetic line Image Cosmetics and it her products are amazing. Stay tuned as I will be posting new things about her products on the blog. HAUTE finds in Atlanta

ATLANTA BABY!!!! Sorry guys, I just had a random outburst. So this weekend, my fiance' and I went to visit Atl and we had a BLAST. We left friday morning, and while on the way, we stopped at a few outlets and found some really cool stuff at some great prices. We went to the Nike outlet and we both went bananas. After stopping at the outlets we headed to the hotel, and we stayed at the Hyatt Place in the Perimeter area. The hotel was fab! So after we relaxed for a few mins, we headed to Perimeter Mall. I love the atmosphere of this mall because I see so many different people with tremendous style. Anywho, I headed over to one of my favorite spots, MACYS! I went straight to the accessories and jewelry department. I felt as if I was on a mission to find some dope bracelets. I came across this cool bronze chain necklace, but what caught my eye was this super bedazzled cuff. I fell in love immediately because it was over the top, and I felt that it was made just for me! Okay, I may be exaggerating just a bit, but I loved and I had to buy it. Saturday, we caught the MARTA to downtown Atlanta, and boy was it hot! We went to the underground and browsed around. If you ever been to the underground, you ever noticed how the people in the food court tries to sell you food as if it were a product? It was too funny! After leaving from downtown, we got back on the Marta and traveled to the Buckhead/Lenox Area. If you are unfamiliar with Buckhead, then I won't spoil it for you. But I will say this, you MUST go! It's a totally different atmosphere but it's an awesome place to really network. We did some more shopping (I will post pics later, sorry for the inconvenience). Me and my other half really know how to have a good time. It doesn't take much for us to crack a laugh and live life. So we left from Lenox and caught the Marta back to the hotel. I can truly say that I was tired from all of the walking that we did. We ordered us some food from Outback and had some cranberry and lime mojitos and relaxed. Today we got and packed up our stuff and checked out the hotel. It was bittersweet, and neither one of us was ready to go home. We had great time and will be back soon in a few weeks.... Doucette Duvall collection is super FAB! I love this collection for two reasons. One, because the collection is definitely wearable. To be quite frank with you, I am really sick of collections that will just hang in the closet. I really don't understand the purpose. Don't get me wrong, I value and love art, but at the same time let's be realistic. Secondly, I love the fact that it's an eco-friendly collection. I know that there are alot of people now a days, more cautious about the environment and are trying to find ways to save the earth. I think it's very admirable of designers to design pieces that encourage consumers to change their lifestyle. What do you think of this briskful collection?

Nexx Level Band

I'm a music junkie especially GoGo music. No, I am not from DC but I got turned on to gogo music in 2008 while going to school at South Carolina State University. SCSU may have a been in a country location but I ALWAYS had fun meeting new people and learning new things. While living in Orangeburg, SC, I met the cool DC native (Trent) whom lived a floor below me and we became very cool. I didn't even know he could sing until I heard him playing some music and he started singing over the track. I was blown away, and I asked him if he belonged to a singing group or band. He told me that he was apart of band called the 'Nexx Level' back in DC. He played this interesting track entitled, "Miss Phat Booty Girl". At first I was skeptical about hearing it, but the beat of the music is what really grabbed my heart. I love the fact that the beat was very smoothe and they really utilized the drums. I also felt that everyone played a part and that it wasn't just one person doing everything. Although the DC native band hasn't been signed yet, they do alot of local shows and have posted quite a few songs on youtube. Check them out!

I must admit, at first I thought Nicki Minaj was just going to be a one hit wonder, but I have really grown to love her as an artist. She is very talented girl with beauty and brains. When I seen her on the 2010 BET awards, I noticed her transforming style from sexy seductive to a more edgy daring look. She reminds me of Lady Gaga but just with a hip-hop twist. I think Nicki Minaj could really takeover if she continues to stay focused and true to herself. Go Nicki, and congrats on all of your awards and accomplishments.

Living my life FABULOUSLY is what I do. My birthday dinner was held at Cheddars Casual Cafe' in Charlotte, NC. I really had an awesome time with family and friends. I love the fact that I am loved by so many people. My look last night was very simple and chic. I have an infatuation with splashes of colors. So, I figured that yellow would just set the mood of happiness. Beyond that, I wanted a new look, as far as my hair goes. THE RUNDOWN: I had the beautiful privaledge to interview Lathleen Ade-Brown. She is a phenomenal entertainment journalist up in New York. She is young and full of ambition and drive. Lathleen has done numerous interviews with some of the entertainent industry's biggest celebrities such as: Common, Olivia, Sammie, Teairra Mari and a few others. Lathleen and I met (via Twitter). She sent me a tweet telling me that she loved my blog, and that she had friend that was hosting an event and that she wanted me to help spread the word. From there on, we stayed connected. F.I.A. is beginning to reach new levels and I am getting into doing more interviews and using my creative skills to advance in my craft. Okay, enough rambling, below is an exclusive interview with my girl Lathleen. Check out and let me know what you think.

(KS)What inspired you to become and entertainment journalist? And what did it take for you to get your name out there?
(LA)I’m in love with words and obsessed with letters, as weird as it may sound. I’ve been writing ever since I was a child, it’s definitely a gift from God that I have, I’m so thankful for it. I wrote short stories and plays throughout my teenage years but I never really pursued my writing career in college because as you now it’s not really the career you want if you want to start making BIG bucks after graduation, so instead of writing I majored in Nursing. I was NOT interested in it at all and realized I was just doing it for the money. And as a result of that I did not excel in my nursing courses at all. Eventually, believe it or not in my senior year of college I quickly switched gears and changed my major to Journalism and English. I graduated in the spring of 2009 with my Bachelor’s Degree and I can’t explain how HAPPY and satisfied I am with my degree. I’ve learned NEVER do anything JUST for the money, EVER!
Although some may feel that my name is “out there”, I don’t in a sense, I feel that I still have a lot more hard work to put in, not to mention a lot more to learn. But to answer your question my senior year of College I interned EVERYWHERE, Radio stations, magazines, and even record labels. Internships are VERY crucial; you will not make it far without one. While interning I’ve met a lot of valuable people and they have helped me A LOT on my journey.
(KS)What is your favorite genre of music? And why?
(LA)My favorite genre I would have to say is R&B, Hip Hop, Rap because I can relate , but I am open to others.
(KS)What music artist inspires you the most? And how?
(LA)Michael Jackson and Kanye West inspire me beyond belief, Michael because he exceeds what the meaning of great is. “Of all time” is what I think of when it comes to Michael, he loved his craft and worked his ass off to be THE best “of all time”. He is an example of what happens to you if you work hard. Kanye West is just a genius as well as a hard worker. I’m attracted to hard workers.
(KS)Do you plan on working for a magazine label? Or have your own entertainment magazine?
(LA)I would love to work with a magazine but my ultimate goal is to finish my manuscripts (a lot of people don’t know) but I’m an author at heart. Eventually my debut novel will be very soon. I’ve let myself down by straying away from my ultimate goal with other things.
(KS)What is your favorite entertainment reading? And why?
(LA)I live in Barnes & Noble, I read anything good it’s very hard to say but I can tell you what I’m reading RIGHT now. The first sitcom mom that played Vivian Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-air, you know the original one. Her name is Janet Hubert and she wrote a book called Perfection is Not a Sitcom Mom. She talks about getting fired from the show and gives an inside look on what Hollywood is all about. What glitters is not gold.
(KS)How would you describe the music today, vs. the music from previous decades?
(LA)I could write a book on this, I am stuck in the 90s, my mp3 player has nothing but music from the 90s, the music that plays today vs the music from previous decades….it makes me scared for the future. I really don’t listen to it much.

(LA)I don’t consume much of today’s generation’s music to really have an opinion on it but I do know that the artists of today really have an impact and a huge influence on the youth and I hope that these artists take that into consideration while putting out new music.
(KS)Out of all the interviews that you’ve done, which one was your favorite? And why?
(LA)I would say Common only because it was such a genuine interview; I felt I was talking to my friend. He left valuable messages with me and that’s what I admire.

(KS)As you know, I’m a fashion blogger, so how do you think music & fashion collaborates?
(LA)It’s all art…I just think of one word..creation.

(LA)My style is based on my mood for the day, it changes. I can be preppy I can be natural I can be girly..depends.

(LA)I don’t mix my career with fear. Success and fear don’t mix, without fear I ask whatever question that comes to my mind, which could be a good or bad thing.
(KS)How would you describe the entertainment industry in New York?
(LA)Shady.
(KS)Where are some of your favorite spots in NY where you go and listen to new music?
(LA)I don’t go out much but the last place I went to in New York to hear new music was Santos Party House.
(KS)Do you only interview celebrities?
(LA)I interview newsworthy folks, relevance is more than important. I’m open to anyone I can learn from.
(KS)What is hip-hop to you? And how has hip-hop changed your life?
(LA)Hip hop to me is a culture that I certainly love and admire, I mean real hip hop, I can date my admiration through the years of 1990-1999 everything after really doesn’t move me as much.
(KS)What advice would you give to young aspiring entertainment journalists?

(LA)Never ever give up, I’m still trying to find my way. Learn your craft, breathe your craft, never stop writing. I can spend hours in Barnes and Noble in the Writing/Editing section reading every book and just falling in love with my craft.
(KS)What do you do on your spare time when you’re not writing or interviewing?
(LA)I watch A LOT of movies, I really want to take things to the next level one day and write a few scripts for movies. With God’s grace everything is possible.
(KS)What is your favorite quote that you apply to your daily living?

(LA)“You can make me cry, but you can not make me quit,” People can say some foul stuff or try and insult you, I’ll probably feel it for a minute but that’s not going to make me quit at all.
“I don’t kiss ass, I kick it,” a lot of people in the industry look forward to kissing the next person’s ass to get ahead, I don’t believe in that. Hard work pays off, your talent will always shine through, there’s no need to kiss anyone’s ass.

NEVER give up!

As you already know, I'm NOT a size 2! I really get frustrated with people and their comments about being plus size. Yes, I am trying to cut back and become healthier but to be completely honest, I LOVE being plus size. That's who I am, and if you don't like it or accept it, well I'm sorry. I know that I am not a well-known blogger, but I can honestly say that I work very hard. I give my blog 100% and I know that in due time, I will be shining the way God wants me too. I really would love the opportunity to fly and host events, or even work behind the scenes. A few a weeks ago I received one the of the rudest emails ever, but thanks to my fiance' and friends, they were there for me. That email was an awakeing moment, because it showed me that, in life there is bad that comes along with the good. I immediately had to suck it up and keep it moving. I was tempted to respond, but truthfully it would have been a waste and I am so over the DRAMA! I'm Keyia, and when people speak of me, I want it to be of positive things. I WILL NEVER let negativity consume me. Working for Pastry as their blogger, has taught me alot. I have learned that you can achieve what ever you want if you stay focused and keep God first. I may appear to be strong, but there are nights when I just cry because noone understands my drive for success. I am very competitive, and I am really having to pray about that because sometimes I become jealous and envious. Yes, I'm human and I make mistakes, but the key is to learn from your mistakes and start fresh. Today I made a vow to myself, that I will no longer be entertained by foolishness, arrogance, laziness & liars. Please share your thoughts and comments.

I am totally diggin' Rihanna's flamin' red hair. To be quite honest with you, I love just about any hair style on Ri. I love the fact that she takes chances and goes for something new. Some people may despise Rihanna, but me personally, I think she is a very classy lady who is a little rough around the edges and that's what make her different from most artist that are out today. I believe often times we get caught with hanging with the same people and doing the same thing and not allowing ourselves to try new things and to be around different people. Change is a good thing as long as it is positive. Never be afraid to be different. I pays in the end to be who you are, because trying to fit in is a waste of time and money.

Hey F.I.A. readers!

I have been anxious to let you all know what's being going on. For the past of the couple of months, I have been low-key but really focusing on my blog and trying to network as much as possible. As most of you may know, I am a huge fan of Angela & Vanessa Simmons and Pastry. I would always say to myself "I'm going to join the Pastry team someday" and God opened the door for me. I am Pastry's official blogger for their http://www.lovepastry.com/ website. I will also be running Pastry's twitter account, so be sure to follow me @a_pastry_world. Guys, I am so blessed to be apart of a company that not only represents my morals and values but because someone gave me a chance to really express my writing skills. Next, I received an email from the Editor-in-Chief from SKORCH Magazine (Plus Size magazine) about becoming a Public Relations intern. I am just amazed at how God keeps blessing me. I just think about all of the calamity that is happening in this world and God shows favor on me still. Fashion In Aktion will continue to grow stronger. I know that there are people who will not support me and have my back as they said they would. So it is up to me to keep it moving and continue smiling. I have to constantly pray and keep a positive mind frame. I have grown so much in the past couple of months, I have removed myself from negativity and I have gained the blessing of meeting new people. I know I wouldn't be where I'm at right now without my parents. I love my mom and dad so much. They are my #1 fans and I thank them daily for being supportive. I found these pics from google and I am totally loving Christina's new look. Even though she isn't considered to be a curvy girl, I love the fact that Marilyn Monroe has inspired her look. Instead of portraying a vintage look, she mix pieces that are more edgy and modern with a touch of an 80s flare. In love with her classic 50s hair-do, combination of platinum deep of wave curls. I do not own a pair of Christian Louboutins yet, but its coming!
I believe that when you are in the public eye constantly, I feel that it is important that you have a style that represents who you are as an artist and a person. Self-Branding is a major factor in success as well. Being something that you not, only places you where you started from which is at the bottom. Reflecting back when Christina Aguilera first came out, her image was very provactive, and it was like she was craving the attention of the spotlight. Her opponent was Brittany Spears, and it was almost like a contest of who could wear the least amount of clothes. As a female, it is important that you stay true to yourself, because it's hard having a facade that you can't keep up.

Well out of all the shoes that I saw, the Guiseppe Zanotti Studded Cut out Booties. I am infatuated with the special details of this shoe. I think this is another shoe, that every female must have in their collection.

I think this would be a HAUTE trend for men this summer. It would definitely be something new for most, but I believe that if you possess the confidence to wear these, then GO FOR IT! If you are not already keeping your self groomed by getting mani and pedi, well you may want to start, especially if you planning on wearing these sneakers. This was an interesting collaboration by designers J.Junn and Kim Kiroic. What do you think?

I am not a sneaker head or anything, but these are to die for! The crazy graffiti details and what really make this sneaker crazy is the patent leather detail at the foot of the shoe. This is not a shoe that should be worn regularly, although it would be an attention grabber in the midst of a crowd. ♥ it!
